Recovery Day Event
31 October 2024
As part of the recently recognized Recovery Month and International Recovery Day, Canadian Mental Health Association Hastings Prince Edward (CMHA HPE) and community partners are hosting a Recovery Day event on November 7, 2024, at the Belleville Public Library (Gallery 1 & 2) from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm.
In Canada, about 21 per cent of people will be affected by addiction and 1 in 5 people will be affected with a mental health disorder in their lifetime. These statistics highlight the significant impact on individuals, families, and communities, reinforcing the importance of awareness, support, and recovery resources.
Recovery looks different for everyone, and it is important to recognize that each individual’s healing journey is unique. The focus of this event is on recovery for people struggling with addictions, managing mental health disorders and trauma survivors. It is a day to come together to create awareness, share stories, break down barriers related to stigma and stereotypes, spread hope and recognize that growth and healing are possible!
This year’s Recovery Day event theme is ART (in all its forms) and how it is related to recovery, healing, growth, and overall wellness. Community partner tables will be designed with art activities for individuals to express themselves and find connection, healing and empowerment.
We invite everyone in the community to attend the Recovery Day event to celebrate healing, listen to personal stories and experience all forms of artistic endeavours, from painting to planting to holistic teachings.
Attendees are invited to bring a non-perishable food item for Gleaners Food Bank.
